Our new boiler
In October 2023 the church’s temperamental boiler finally quit. We were able to draw heat for one last winter but it was clear that a major boiler refurbishment was in order.
We embarked on a substantial upgrade to the heating system, including the installation of new boiler and piping, reconfiguration of the heating zones for greater efficiency and upgrades to the controls. We had long overdue remedial work on the boiler room in the chronically damp subbasement to prolong the life of the new boiler. The work was completed in November 2024.
In order to pay for the project we were permitted to borrow from our Memorial Fund – a fund that has grown from generous legacy gifts. We have paid about $360,000 from the Memorial Fund toward the boiler refurbishment.
As a parish we value the financial stability provided by the Memorial Fund and the care and stewardship of those who have gone before. At our vestry meeting we agreed as a parish that we would replenish the Memorial Fund as soon as we are able. And so the Heat It Forward campaign has begun.
