Fr. Philip has been the Incumbent of the parish of St. Martin-in-the-Fields since 1997. He is active in the Diocese of Toronto, serving as regional dean for the Deanery of Toronto West and as chair of the diocese’s Doctrine & Worship Committee. He is also the Ecumenical Officer for the diocese, reflecting his commitment to fostering deeper relationships with our brothers and sisters in other Christian denominations. He is a representative of the worldwide Anglican Communion on the Anglican/Orthodox International Theological Dialogue.
For many years Fr. Philip has been involved with musical training for young people as chaplain of the Diocesan Girls’ Choir School. He also enjoys working with those in training for the ministry and serves in various capacities at Trinity College. He is a member of the Oratory of the Good Shepherd, a dispersed Anglican religious community that celebrated its centenary in 2013. He is the North American Provincial for the Oratory.
Prior to coming to St. Martin’s, Fr. Philip served in parishes in Whitby and Oshawa and at St. James Cathedral in downtown Toronto. After completing a B.A. and M.A. in History at the University of Toronto, he entered the Faculty of Divinity at Trinity College, where he completed his Master of Divinity.
He enjoys travelling, long walks, good books and great music.
